Philly is on the move! The most innovative and creative companies under (and above) Billie Penn's hat--from innovative startups to established businesses--are heading out to Austin, TX to represent Philadelphia at the South by South West convention (SXSW).
To us, it’s no secret that Philadelphia is an innovation hub, ripe for business growth, a great place to live, work and enjoy all the benefits of a world class city; from our hot restaurant scene to our outstanding cultural venues. Its our job to spread the word nationally.
About SXSW:
SXSW provides unmatched access to ideas and global viewpoints. Each day is packed with panel dissuasions, networking events, trade shows, concerts and parties and everyone comes together to be educated, get inspired and connect with others. In past years, other cities such as DC, Chicago and Las Vegas have highlighted themselves as emerging tech hub and destination to set up startup shop. The question is, why isn't Philly there… YET?
The convention lasts about two weeks and is broken down into several different sub-conferences. This year, we’ve chosen to represent Philadelphia at both the Music and Interactive conferences. In order to best showcase our city, we’ve decided to have a presence at the Interactive Trade show, produce a large Philadelphia themed music concert and spread awareness though our street team.
The Philadelphia Brand
We will will be working closely with a local agency to create the brand story we want to share with the world. Our goal is to create a unifying brand for our city while allowing each company/musician to showcase their work individually.
PHL presence at SXSW '16:
- Interactive Trade Show
70,000 people attend the show, where our space will have room for 20-30 startups and innovative businesses to display their products, a lounge and meeting space, and a live brand experience.
- Concert
Our networks will come together for a night of mingling and exchanging of ideas, followed by a concert featuring home-grown talent in bands that have emerged from our local music scene.
- Street Team
We’ll have boots on the ground representing Philadelphia with giveaway bags and resource guides to make sure the world knows that Philadelphia is an amazing place to grow your career whether its in music, business or anything else.
